What is the Auction?
Since its inception 43 years ago, the school’s annual Auction continues to be a significant source of revenue as well as an entertaining evening for the ever-increasing number of attendees. The proceeds of the auction benefit the teachers and students of Country Day. This fabulous evening includes a silent auction, seated dinner, fund-a-need, and live auction. Guests also have an opportunity to register for a variety of sign-up parties hosted by Country Day families. You can register for the auction here.
The Gala is run entirely by parent, faculty, staff, and student volunteers with administrative guidance from the Advancement Office. Items for bid are donated by businesses, parents, students, alumni, alumni parents, and faculty with bids ranging from $5 to $5,000 and more.

Our 2020 Gala co-chairs, Pepa Novell (mother of Jordi ‘30, Eisenda ‘27 and Ximena ‘30, as well as MS Spanish Teacher) and Maureen Smith (mother of Quinn ‘29), are here to make this year’s Gala an unforgettable evening. With their leadership and vision, we are excited to announce this year’s auction theme “Una Noche de Cine.”
“Una Noche de Cine,” celebrates the diversity and joy of a community coming together for a fantastic event that supports a wonderful cause. The Spanish expression is not meant to be translated literally- it is an idea of perfection. Life isn’t always as magical as the movies, but for one night it will be! We are hoping that your support will truly make this a Night to Remember…
What happens at the Auction?
The event features the silent auction, sign-up parties, and specialty cocktails. The silent auction and sign-up parties will close at the call to dinner and the live auction.
Find your table for the multi-course dinner and socialize with your tablemates as we draw the Golden Ticket Winner. Attendees will have an opportunity to bid on class projects, live auction items, and raise their paddle for Fund-a-Need.
At the end of the evening we ask that guests settle their bills and take home all auction “wins.”

With whom will I sit?
When you purchase tickets, you will have an opportunity to list with whom you would like to sit. We will do our best to honor your request, or if not, we will try to seat you with parents from the same grade.
What should I wear?
Cocktail attire, black tie optional.
Why should I donate?
The success of the Gala depends on the support of our Country Day community and local businesses. Please take this opportunity to make a tax-deductible donation. There are a variety of high-visibility sponsorship opportunities for our generous donors. Not only will you be making an important investment in education, but your business will be honored in all marketing materials and signage, providing exposure and inspiring goodwill. We are eminently proud of our close-knit community and are dedicated to innovative learning and diversity. Because of funds raised at this event, we are able to provide two full high school scholarships per grade per year as well as tuition assistance to nearly 40% of our students – ensuring access to our unparalleled curriculum and special programs.

What is offered at the Gala?
Quality, unique, and desirable items will be for bid at the silent auction, which will close just prior to the dinner seating. Items will include gift cards, artwork, wine, event tickets, and gift baskets. There is something for everyone.
The centerpiece of the evening is a live auction of unique items and experiences. Past items include vacation home rentals, hard-to-get event tickets, original art, class projects and much more.
We hope to offer a variety of sign-up parties for couples, moms, dads, kids, and families. Parties will be available for sign-up at the auction and online registration will continue after the big night. How does the Golden Ticket work?
There are 125 tickets available at $100 each. Ticket sales began in December and are sold at school events and online. At the beginning of the live auction, the Golden Ticket Winner is drawn. The lucky winner will be given the honor of choosing any offering in the live auction before bidding begins. Click here to purchase your golden ticket.

Here are the instructions:
- Click “Change Search” to adjust dates, number of guests, etc. After adjusting, press blue Search Button.
- Click your preferred room type.
- You will see the “SCDS Auction Guestrooms” room block appear. Click the blue arrow.
- Complete your reservation info and click “Book Reservation”.
Guests may also call in their reservation to 877-678-6255 and ask for the “SCDS Auction Guestrooms” Group Rate.
